Focus Group for People with Disabilities from Marginalized Communities

Who is conducting this study? 

Langston University Rehabilitation Research and Training Center (LU-RRTC) on Advancing Employment Equity for Multiply Marginalized People with Disabilities is conducting the study. The Institute for Community Inclusion (ICI) at the University of Massachusetts Boston is facilitating this focus group. The study is funded by the U.S. Department of Education through the National Institute on Disability, Independent Living and Rehabilitation Research (NIDILRR). 

Who is Eligible to Participate?  

Participants must be people with disabilities in Massachusetts, who meet one or more of the following criteria: 

  • Are from racial and ethnic minority backgrounds 

  • Live in rural areas 

  • Identify as LGBTQIA+ 

  • Experience poverty 

How do I apply to participate?  

To apply, complete the survey here: https://www.psychdata.com/s.asp?SID=198606. The first part has consent and eligibility information, and the second part is a short demographic survey. This will take about 8 minutes to complete.  

When and where is the Focus Group? 

The virtual Focus Group Discussion (FGD) will be conducted via Zoom on February 15, 2024 6:30-8:00pm. We will consider all applications. If you are chosen to participate, we will send you an invitation with a link to the virtual session. 

How am I compensated for my time? 

We value your feedback! As a 'thank you' for your time, we will give each participant one $50 gift card (delivered via registered mail to your address provided in the application survey). The gift cards will be delivered within 3 weeks of you completing the Focus Group session.
