The Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH) is seeking a dynamic and solutions-oriented Chief Administrative Magistrate (CAM)

This role plays an essential role in the DPH Office of General Counsel, overseeing the Administrative Magistrate Unit (AMU) which is responsible for conducting adjudicatory hearing srelated to enforcement actions pursued by the Bureau of Health Professions Licensure. You will lead a team of Administrative Magistrates and a Paralegal,managing the day-to-day operations of the AMU and ensuring the fair and impartial adjudication of complaints against healthcare professionals. With a substantial caseload, you will draw on your strong background in administrative proceedings and rules of evidence to guide the AMU through complex cases of professional misconduct and negligence.

In this role, you will recruit, train, and evaluate the performance of the AMU staff, while also serving as the principal legal consultant to the AMU. Your strategic planning abilities will be crucial in developing and implementing initiatives, operations, and special projects for the AMU. Additionally, you will contribute to the formulation of priorities and goals in collaboration with the General Counsel, playing an important role in the development of policies, procedures, and training.
